Now that you have the perfect vision I want you to imagine getting the entrance of your dream in one of these incredibly hot cars from Something Vintage Something Blue. Showing up to your wedding in a chauffeured vintage car would help you achieve the ultimate goal of having the perfect wedding experience.

Princess Ivy~Fidelity, affection and anxious to please

The Austin Princess Vanden Plas: In 1947 Sir Herbert Austin purchased Vanden Plas (a British Coach Builder Comapny) in order to build a luxury car and the Princess Saloon was born. The first two Princesses went to the Queen (then Princess) Elizabeth in 1952 and the last saloon was built in 1957. The Queen subsequently purchased two more Princess saloons because she liked them so much.

The limousine version continued to be made until 1968, badged ”Vanden Plas Princess” under the Austin Company, who marketed the vehicle as their flagship car, ahead of Jaguar and Daimler. As the BMC days came to a close, it was decided to drop this grand old vehicle from the range, and the last one was built in 1968.Our Princess Ivy was born in 1964 and is indeed a collector’s dream. She has interesting history, and is a terrific looker! Only 1500 were ever built. Each one took about four months to hand-build by a small team dedicated to that one car.

Only 340 remain on the road today world wide, our Pincess Ivy is one of those and is a very special automobile.

Daisy~ Beauty, Innocence, and Loyal love

1937 Buick special series 40, suicide doors: This car is unique in many ways, one of the early designs of the legend Harley Earl, gangster style with the trunk back design.

She came originally equipped with a straight 8 fireball engine mated to a 3 speed manual transmission. The car still has that old engine and tranny. She’s one of the very few still on the road today. This car is roomy in the back seat with plenty of leg room, I recently added a nice stereo and speakers with an I Pod hook up for you to enjoy.

Although she’s pretty – she had some work done a while back – she’s no trailer queen; she drives on the road often and does her job well despite of a few laugh lines here and there. Just ask yourself, when was the last time you’ve seen one like it on the road? ……Maybe never!

Remember, this is your special day to be treated like a princess. So don’t settle for less, get an amazing entrance & the exquisite exit you have always dreamed about for your wedding. Every girl deserves it.

The Girly Show

Sat. Nov. 13 “The Girly Show” was held at historic Trolley Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. There were around 800 spectators there to see the works of local designers, ranging from swim wear to bridal gowns. The amphatheater was jam-packed with people from all walks of life to watch this incredible show.

I showed gowns in 2 gatagories. “Style Wars” required a stripped article of clothing as The HIve, one of the sponsors, was trying to raise money for cat adooption. Yunna wore my darling “Greer” dress from my “Gingersnaps Collection.” This has turned out to be one of my most sought after dresses. So many girls love the lime green/yellow color, the purple/gray/green strips and the surplice neckline and boxed pleated skirt. More often than not, I hear comments that this dress looks like something right off “Mad Men”. Since I have never seen that show, I just have to take that as a compliment!

I also showed 6 wedding gowns from my “Elizabeth Collection”. Audrey- worn by Maren, Sabrina-worn by Kiersten, Cindy-worn by Kara, Gidget-worn by Jenny, Cordelia-worn by Katy, and Sophia-worn by Deena. These girls rocked the house! Walking to Dean Martin’s “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head”, they each strutted their stuff on the ramp. Each girl received a rousing round of applause as they entered the runway! The audience loved the 50′s theme of this collection and let us know it by their enthusiastic response to these dresses! Thanks girls! You were all fabulous!!

The evening was a hugh success! I love showing this line of gowns; they are incredibly unique! Each time these gowns show to a new crowd, it seems that all in attendance can’t help but smile and reminisce. It’s crazy to look at everyone’s faces and realize how much they love this “new-vintage” look. It brings great satifaction and joy to share these gowns with you.

Latina Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show

A fund raising event hosted by Communities United, was held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Wells Fargo Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sponsors of the event were: Wells Fargo Bank, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Cummings Candies, & Yellow Bird Fabrics. The house was packed with hundreds wishing to help in the fund raising efforts for Breast Cancer. Seven local designers were asked to showcase their lines in the fashion show that evening. I was fortunate enough to have 10 gowns in the show – and was the final designer of the night! My beautiful and talented models were supplied by McCarty and Willamina agencies. They walked the ramp to “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” by Dean Martin. The models had as much fun as the audience did! Thanks to Masha Boguslavsky for her fun photos on the ramp!

Cordelia at “New York, New York”

The Las Vegas shoot was really quite exceptional. With all the people walking the Strip, you would have thought it would be rediculously impossible to shoot there in the middle of the day. But what actually happened, is people were staring and gawking at the models in these amazing gowns and they were taking photos of the photo shoot. Many of the guys actually asked for photos with the models in their dresses! Check out the pic of the boys in the elevator with Britney. She even hailed a cab during the shoot…..It was pretty interesting.

Cordelia, with it’s retro-updated style and added bling, was a perfect fit at the “New York New York”. We shot at the Empire State Building elevator, and ended up by the front doors of the resort. The flashy dress with it’s unique style, pockets and lacy fabric was an instant attraction. Combined with the pill-box hat, it became the hands-down favorite of everyone on the Strip. They loved it! People loved the short blusher on the front of the hat. They loved the fact that it was different! There were many, many comments about how the whole style was so fresh and new!

Talk about different – Cordelia is now available in 3 new colors – light pink, gold, and black. All are eye-catching! With this dress you can add all the bling you want, just about anywhere. Or, you can do away with the bling and add color with a beautiful sash around the tight-fitting waist. A colored petticoat underneath looks amazing on this dress too! It’s so fun to see how all of you make it your own, by adding your own special touches to it!!

All images are by Jon Woodbury Photography. Thanks again Jon. They are amazing!!

Las Vegas Photo Shoot

Shooting at the Venitian, the Paris and New York New York was absolutely amazing! The girls looked stunning and were received by the onlookers with loud applause. All weekend men, women, old, young, people from all walks of life, made wonderfully positive comments about the “beautiful, sophisticated, elegant, classic” dresses. We were asked for business cards continually. People from Russia and Italy stopped us to find out more about the dresses. One woman with 3 daughters of marrying age, can’t wait to show her daughters the website. It is interesting to note, that in a city like Las Vegas, where the showing of “skin” is readily accepted as the norm, these classic feminine wedding dresses brought the house down! It just goes to show that you don’t need to show a lot of skin, or wear a low-cut, cleavage-showing, backless, strapless dress to be thought of as sexy and attractive!

This blog focuses on the “Audrey” dress, which was shot at the Paris. The shoot started at 6:00 am and it was freezing! Amazing how cold it can get in the desert when there is no sun. The Paris was the perfect location for this dress. Paris is the classic city of love, and Audrey is designed after the classic looks of Audrey Hepburn. The simple lines of this dress topped off with the straight-forward pill box hat, were stunning against the Arc’d Triumph and the Eiffle Tower!

John Woodbury, of Weddings by Woodbury is absolutely incredible to work with. He gets the most amazing shots, and he’s fun to boot! I am in love with these images and I’m sure you will be too. Thanks Jon, for the fabulous pictures!!

Real Bride – Angelina

When Angelina came in to see me for the first time, she knew exactly which dress she wanted – the Sophia. She fell in love with it! She decided to have it made in natural chantung silk. Tiny & petite, she looked fabulous in this light, elegant and fun party-skirt dress. The soft English net complements her beautiful skin tone. Angelina opted for a custom pill box hat made precisely to her specifications. Doesn’t she look amazing! It was such fun working with Angelina! What a spunky bride. Thanks to Andrea Hanks for taking such great bridals and letting me use them!

Vintage Odgen Airport Photo Shoot

The incredible Andrea Hanks of Andrea Hanks Photography agreed to do a shoot with some of my gowns at the old Odgen Airport. We met early in the morning out on the runway. When we got there Andrea had arranged for a private plane to be taken out of its hanger – waiting for us to shoot with it! Talk about cool. This great 6-seater private plane opened up, ready and waiting just for us.

My models, Lindsey, Hailey and twins Brooke & Lauren worked the camera for Andrea, even in the heat of the day! What troopers they all were. Andrea’s assistant, Jenny was an incredible help too.

It was so much fun to watch Andrea work. She has such a great way of communicating with the girls to get the best out of them. Maybe it comes from all those years modeling in Europe! She’s so awesome to work with. If any of you get a chance to work with her – take it! There are so many images that I would love to share with you all, so here are a few samples of the fun day we had.

I have always considered Lake Powell one of the most spectacular places on the planet. The mix of red rocks, blue water and endless sky is magical. So I was excited when this Lake Powell groomal session by Adam Barker Photography showed up in my inbox. Betsy Barker of Modest Couture by Elizabeth actually submitted the shoot—she designed the bride’s custom gown (more about that in a moment). The couple, Molly and Garrett, are very outdoorsy and love to run rivers, climb, ride their bikes—they are always up for a good adventure. Lake Powell is one of their favorite places to explore and to water ski, so when it came time to pick a location for their photos the lake was a natural fit.

Betsy of Modest Couture by Elizabeth shares the details of Molly’s custom gown:

Molly’s dress is made of Silk Duponi in Blush. It looks fabulous with her glowing red hair and her fair skin. We designed the dress together to fit her personality. She wanted something different, feminine and not like a typical wedding gown. The pin-tucks in the bodice, the empire waist, double-sash, and bottom ruffles give it a “prairie-girl” look; which is Molly to a T. I used an assortment of her Great-Grandmothers antique buttons to highlight the upper bodice. Each of the double-sashes is trimmed in a light bronze-copper trim to match the buttons. This dress also has deep side pockets and a keyhole neck opening in back.

Molly and Garrett celebrated their big day with a wedding dinner at the Silver Fork Lodge in Brighton. Congratulations you two!

Thank you Betsy and Adam for sharing this groomal shoot!

New Dress Previewed at La Caille Fashion Show

Mallory, a darling bride-to-be from Arizona, commissioned me to design her dream wedding gown. She fell in love with the vintage style and wanted a true 1950′s true tea-length dress in peach covered with beautifulheavy reimbroidered ivory lace all over the entire gown.

Getting married in Arizona means that her wedding day would be hot, hot, hot. The fabric had to breath and be light weight, but still have the depth and deminsion to carry off the classic style of elegance so often worn by Grace Kelly. We sketched out a gown and I went to work.

Mallory agreed to let the world preview her gown at the La Caille Fashion Show, even before her wedding. What a class act! She was so excited to give the dress a dry-run. She looked lovely and had a zillion comments from on-lookers as the day went on. Thanks Mallory for letting everyone see you in your gorgeous wedding gown – before the wedding!!!
